Open Access publishing agreement: SAGE

Authors affiliated with the University of Vienna can publish Open Access in approximately 1,100 SAGE journals under an Open Access publishing agreement. OA publishing charges will be completely covered by the University (if applicable). Please find the agreement details here:

1.1.2023–31.12.2025
Funding

Articles in subscription journals with Open Access option (hybrid). Articles in Gold journals (fully open access) are also eligible and processed as part of the agreement workflow: Eligible Journals (PDF)

Funding requirements
  • The "corresponding author" of the article is affiliated1) with the University of Vienna on the date of acceptance.
  • The "corresponding author" states "University of Vienna" as their affiliation or as one of their affiliations in the article.
  • Article types covered: Article (Article includes but not limited to: Original Research Papers, Review Papers, Brief Communications, Short Reports, Case Reports). Book reviews are always excluded from funding.
  • The following applies to articles resulting from FWF projects: funding can be provided by the University of Vienna.
  • The following applies to articles resulting from EU projects: funding can be provided by the University of Vienna.
Funding is only provided for Open Access (Article Processing Charges, APCs), not for any additional fees (e.g. colour charges, submission fees).
Invoicing
Hybrid OA: No invoicing, OA costs fully covered by publishing agreement.
Gold OA: Invoicing with agreement discount addressed to the Open Access Office. OA costs are fully covered and paid for.
Author workflow
SAGE recognises eligible authors and informs them accordingly. The affiliation of the "corresponding author" to the University of Vienna will be checked by the Open Access Office.
